New Hampshire Cemeteries and Gravestones, Sunday September 8, 9:30 AM Errol Town Hall, 33 Main St., Errol, New Hampshire.  Contact Debbie Freedman 603-482-3884 for more information.  Long forgotton stories of historical events such as the Great Awakening, the Throat Distemper epidemic, and the American Revolution told through gravestone rubbings, photographs and stories.  FREE.

Ladies of the House Tours, September 8, 11 AM to 3 PM at the Marrett House, 40 Ossipee Trail East, Route 25, Standish, Maine.  Free for Historic New England members, $5 nonmembers.  Special tours focusing on the lives of upper class Maine women.  The Marrett House was occupied by one family for over 150 years.  Tours on the hour until the last tour leaves at 2PM.  Registration recommended at 207-882-7169. 

12,000 Years Ago in the Granite State, Wednesday, September 12, 6:30 PM at the Derry Public Library, 603-432-6140.  Presented by Robert Goodby of Franklin Pierce University, a lecture on the native Abenaki people and an archeological dig near Keene, New Hampshire that revealed tools and society.  FREE

New Hampshire’s One Room Rural Schools: The Romance and the Reality, Thursday, September 13, 7PM  at the Mary E. Bartlett Library, 22 Dalton Road, Brentwood, New Hampshire. 603-679-8635.  Steve Taylor will present a lecture on the history of education in New Hampshire, from financing the local schools, teacher preparation, curriculum, discipline, student achievement and community involvement.  FREE

The Art of Gathering and Presenting Oral History, September 14 - 16,  at the World Fellowship Center, 368 Drake Hill, Road, Albany, New Hampshire.  Jo Radner will lead a hands on workshop through effective strategies of interviewing, designing oral history projects, and presenting community stories.  The entire weekend is $30, $20 for the seond registrant from the same organization or family. Cops and Robbers: Researching Ancestors on Both Sides of the Thin Blue Line, Wednesday, September 26, 6PM, at the Orientation Room in the Boston Public Library.  FREE.  Margaret Sullivan (Records Manager for the Boston Police Department) and David Allen Lambert (NEHGS) will present how to find the clues to track down ancestors in the wealth of criminal and law enforcement records available to researchers.

Dissent Among the Puritans, Thursday, September 27, 7PM at the Peirce Manse, 14 Horseshoe Pond Land, Concord, New Hampshire, 603-224-4653.  Presented by Linda Palmer, a living history presentation as Ann Vassall in 1637, wife of one of the founders of the Massachusetts Bay Company.  Her wods of advice and narration of the events going on in town make you wish you had stayed in England or look towards New Hampshire or Connecticut as a place of settlement.  FREE

The Lost Art of Etiquette, Thursday, September 27, 7 – 8:30PM at the Phillips House, 43 Chestnut Street, Salem, Massachusetts, $10 Historic New England members, $15 nonmembers.  Which fork do I use? How do I call on the lady of the house?  Find the answers to these and other questions as Megan MacNeil looks at the role of etiquette in entertaining in the early twentieth century.  Following the lecture, a first floor tour highlights just how the Phillips family demonstrated proper etiquette throughout their daily lives. Lunch & Learn – Plimoth Plantation Lunchtime Lecture, October 4, 12 – 1 PM at the Accomack Building in Plimoth Plantation Museum, Plymouth, Massachusetts.  Lecture on “Crime and Controversy in Colonial New England” by Diane Rapaport, author of the book The Naked Quaker: true Crimes and Controversies from the Courts of Colonial New England. Irish Genealogy, Saturday, October 6, at 2PM at the Amesbury, Mass Public Library, presented by Tom Toohey, this program offers a description of six ways to research Irish families.  Toohey will return on Saturday, November 3, at 2PM to present six more ways to find one’s Irish ancestors. Descendants Celebration Sunday, Sunday, October 14, First Congregational Church of Hampton, New Hampshire, 127 Winnacunnet Road.  www.firsthamptonchurch.org As part of the celebration of the 375th anniversary of the founding of Hampton descendants of founding families are invited to worship, a picnic lunch, a tour of the Tuck Museum and area cemeteries. Aids are available for genealogy research, see the registration form.  $5 for lunch on site, area restaurants are nearby, too.   Pre-registration is required by the form online.  

NH African Americans in the Revolutionary War, Thursday, October 25, 6:30 - 8PM, at the Derry Public Library, 64 E Broadway, Derry, New Hampshire.  603-432-6140.  Presented by Genealogist and Reference Librarian Christine Sharbrough.  Almost 200 African and Native Americans from New Hampshire fought in the Revolutionary War.  FREE
