Orange dinosaur will remain on the site of the new condo complex being built where minigolf used to be. Ginormous neon cactus remains, which it should, but for how long is a mystery. Site remains empty and overgrown with weeds now. Very sad.northofbosthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04466908652146749689noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3533717770805440813.post-51889074140941739022017-08-12T14:49:04.987-07:002017-08-12T14:49:04.987-07:00Sad to say that both Hilltop Steak House and Route...Sad to say that both Hilltop Steak House and Route 1 Minigolf, are now both gone :( - Only the ginormous neon cactus and the Orange dinosaur remain. The dinosaur will have a permanent home in the new apartment/condo complex (ugh) being built where minigolf was. The neon Hilltop cactus should in my opinion be made a historic landmark :) . northofbosthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04466908652146749689noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3533717770805440813.post-3564547098746185772015-10-18T08:23:39.003-07:002015-10-18T08:23:39.003-07:00Thanks so much for the tour! We'd pass the Kittery (Maine) Trading Post, Valley's steak House, the Kittery bridge, then the Howard Johnson's at the traffic circle in Portsmouth. From then it was pretty much trees, trees and more trees until Mom announced that we were about to hit the Route 1 "Honkey Tonk!" All the arguments would cease and we five kids would stay glued to the windows, waiting for all our favorite sights. As soon as I finish here I plan to forward this page to my sibs. They'll love it. Thanks for the smiles!!!! There is nothing more nostalgic than route 1! I have so many fond memories of this place, and I still visit to this day. All the Americana structures and art deco signs are so much fun! : ) May it always remain the same as we preserve our historical past.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3533717770805440813.post-37885123453254244932013-10-23T03:35:56.367-07:002013-10-23T03:35:56.367-07:00Here it is: http://preservationinaction.blogspot.c...Here it is: http://preservationinaction.blogspot.com/2013/10/is-recent-history-too-recent-dilemma.htmlWard Hamiltonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14077951464866486246noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3533717770805440813.post-20198154866450025682013-10-20T13:14:16.816-07:002013-10-20T13:14:16.816-07:00This is my first time i visit here. I remember riding by all those things when I was a kid and especially The Ship. Rt. 1 would not be the same without them. I have enjoyed a meal or two at The Hilltop and a few years ago, my sister, my kids a niece and a nephew had a wonderful meal and a great visit at The Ship.Thepyeplatehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09737124511840111060noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3533717770805440813.post-46510480030992489022013-09-20T04:49:13.569-07:002013-09-20T04:49:13.569-07:00Thanks, John!
