I descend from Lewis and Anna (---) Jones. Harrison refers to her as the daughter of Simon Stone, but this is untrue. She may have the daughter of John Hewes as inferred by Eben Putnam in "Lieutenant Joshua Hewes, A New England Pioneer and Some of his Descendants" (1913) p. 25. See: "A Few More Descendants of Lewis Jones, 1603-1684" by Jerry N. Harrison, Ph.D. (Heritage, Bowie, MD, 1995) (which is incorrect) and "The Ancestry of Eva Belle Kempton 1878-1908: Part I, The Ancestry of Warren Francis Kempton 1817-1879" by Dean Crawford Smith (Boston, NEHGS, 1996), which is correct.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Martin, I will have to check out the book by Dean Crawford Smith.
