Weathervane Wednesday ~ A Historic Site

Every Wednesday for more than two years I've been posting photographs of weather vanes located in or near the Nutfield area (the former name for the land where Londonderry, Derry and Windham, New Hampshire are now located). Today's weather vane was seen on the steeple above Independence Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This beloved building is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a National Historic Landmark. The tower above the hall was built between 1750 and 1753.   In 2010 the tower section of Independence Hall underwent extensive renovations, including new clock faces, replacing the structure that held up the weather vane, and updating the lightning protection systems.  You can see photographs of the restoration and re-gilding of the weathervane by Kreilick Conservation Company at this link: http://www.kreilickconservation.com/projects/Objects/IndependenceHallWV.html
