This mansion was built by Judge Isaac Winslow, and generations of Winslow descendants also lived here. One of his sons was General John Winslow (1703 - 1774), who was involved with the expulsion of the Acadians from Nova Scotia. They were all descendants of Edward Winslow (1595 - 1665), the Mayflower passenger and Governor of the Plymouth Colony.
