A summer cabin on Lake Sebago, Maine ~ Photo Friday

Here we are on vacation at Lake Sebago, Maine about 1966.   We used to to up there a lot when I was little, and my Uncle Al had a camp nearby on the Crooked River.  Dad probably took this photo since he was missing from the photo. I see a lot of bathing suits in this photo, so we were probably just swimming in the lake.  I can remember when most of the Allen family would join us up at the Lake, and that was a lot of people because my Mom had seven brothers and sisters, and they had a lot of kids (I had 25 first cousins on the Allen side!).

Did you ever vacation in little cabins like this? Many of these little cabin resorts still exist in New England.

  1. My grandparents had a cottage on Little Sebago Lake. We vacationed up there for a week every summer. Greate memories!

  2. Nice post Heather. This reminded me of the summer my family vacationed in a cabin at "Kessler's Last Resort" on Lake Winnepesauee in N.H. in the early 1960s. I don't think the campground still exists (at least not by the name).

  3. This photo reminds me of a similar photo of us around a table up in Idlewild, MI. My uncle had two cottages up there and we used to go and so did all the cousins on that side of the family. Later, I lived up there with my family and my children got to spend a lot of time with my cousins children when they would come up. sort of sad none of us are still going up there and the next generation only gets to meet at irregular and short family gatherings.
