Tombstone Tuesday ~ The Hackett Family of Hackett Hill, Hooksett, New Hampshire

These tombstones were photographed at the Riverside Cemetery, Hooksett. New Hampshire.  I live off Hackett Hill Road, so I was very interested in researching this family.   This part of Hooksett was originally part of Goffstown.  Hackett Hill Road now starts on Front Street in Manchester and runs to River Road in Hooksett (both ends of the road are on the banks of the Merrimack River on Route 3A).

Hackett Genealogy:

Generation 1:  Captain William Hackett, born about 1633 in Devonshire, England; married Sarah Barnard. Eight children.  He commanded the sloop Indeavor.

Generation 2: Ebenezer Hackett, born 17 October 1687 in Salisbury, Massachusetts, died 19 October 1741 in Salisbury; married Hannah Ring, daughter of Jarvis Ring, on 10 December 1709 in Salisbury.  She was born 3 March 1688 in Salisbury.  Twelve children.  Ebenezer and Hannah sold their land in Salisbury to Sampson Underhill for 105 pounds and removed to Goffstown, New Hampshire.   Brother Ephraim Hackett married Dorothy Allen and went to Canterbury.

Generation 3: Ebenezer Hackett, born 23 September 1730 in Salisbury, died 28 January 1801 in New Hampshire; married Abigail Emery, daughter of Caleb Emery,  on 24 March 1752 in Newbury, Massachusetts.  Three sons.  Ebenezer served in the Revolutionary War with his son Daniel in Captain Samuel McConnell’s company, Colonel Daniel Moore’s Regiment, from Pembroke, New Hampshire.   He lived in Goffstown (Hackett Hill, now in Hooksett) and in Dunbarton.

Generation 4: Stephen Hackett, born July 1765; died 8 January 1813 at Dunbarton, New Hampshire; buried at the Riverside Cemetery, Hooksett, New Hampshire; married Elizabeth Ring.  Six Children: Esther, Moses, Dolly Holt, Jemima Clark, Bethiah Poor, Issachar.
