October 6, Tuesday, 7pm, Genealogy and World War II, at the Wright Museum, 77 Center Street, Wolfboro, New Hampshire, a lecture by Aimee Fogg discusses her new book "The Granite Men of Henri Chapelle" about the New Hampshire soldiers buried in the American military cemetery in Belgium. October 7, Wednesday, 1pm, Introduction to the Maine Historical Society: Library Tour, at the Maine Historical Society, Portland, Maine. A 45 minute tour of the reading room, behind the scenes in the archive, with a history of the building’s architectural details, the basics of doing research at the library and a private view of some treasures from the collections.

October 8, Thursday, 6pm, A Soldier’s Life, at the Central Library of the Boston Public Library, presented by historian Tom Dietzel, who will examine the hardships of enlisted men during the Revolutionary War with a lecture and audience participation.  Free to the public.

October 17, Saturday, 5 - 7:30pm, Boston Home Movie Day 2015, at the  New England Historic Genealogical Society, 99 - 101 Newbury Street, Boston, Massachusetts.  FREE.  Don't let your family movies decay, take them to the Home Movie Day. This is an international event that celebrates family history and encourages film preservation. Held at venues worldwide, it offers individuals and families a chance to share home movies with the community. Bring your movies, or just come to watch and enjoy the popcorn. Liz Coffey and Laurel Gildersleeve from Harvard's Film Conservation Center will be available to prepare your films for viewing.  Accepted formats: 8mm, super8, sound super8, 16mm film, VHS, DVD.
