Headstones date to the early 1800s when this

area was part of Chester.  Hooksett settlers and 

their descendants are buried here including Natt

Head, NH Governor (1879 - 1881).

Chester first had a school on this site in 1805.

This brick structure, built by Hooksett in 1839,

was the District 1 schoolhouse until it closed in

1912 due to dwindling student population.

It was converted to a chapel by the town in

1922 and rededicated in 1966 by the Women's Club.

Vacant for many years, in 2010 the Heritage

Commission return it to its original use.

Listed on NH State Register of Historic Places

in 2007.
