Tombstone Tuesday ~ William R. Eastman (1833 - 1916) and his wives, Hooksett, New Hampshire

William Rogers Eastman, was the son of Stephen Clough Eastman and Ruhamah Rogers, born in Orange, Vermont on 9 November 1833 and died 11 March 1916 in Manchester, New Hampshire.  He is the brother-in-law of George W. Davis, subject of another blog post HERE

William married Ellen Whitelaw, daughter of Nathan Whitelaw and Margaret Kinsley,  on 19 March 1862 in Greensboro, Vermont, and she died on 16 February 1884 in Hooksett.  He married second on 10 November 1885 in Manchester to Eliza A. Mathews, daughter of James Mathews and Betsey Nealy Batchelder . 

William R. Eastman  of Hooksett was mustered in as a soldier in the Civil War on 11 August 1962 in Company D, New Hampshire 10th Infantry Regiment.  He mustered out on 21 June 1865 at Richmond, Virginia.   He filed for a military pension on 20 March 1886 as an invalid.

There is a Masonic symbol (square and compass) on the Eastman family tombstone.
