Help Save Mayflower II, a National Landmark

There is a Kickstarter campaign going on now for the Mayflower II, the 1957 replica of the original Mayflower that brought the first permanent colonists to Massachusetts.  It was a gift from the British people for the aide rendered by the USA during World War II.   They are attempting to raise $250,000 for the restoration of the Mayflower II, and offering fun prizes as rewards for your support.

Whether your ancestors were Pilgrims, or came on another boat, train or plane (my parents-in-law arrived by Lockheed - we are a nation of immigrants.  Celebrate that heritage by supporting the Mayflower II.  Almost 25 million people have visited the Mayflower II at her home berth in Plymouth, Massachusetts.  It is a highlight of any trip to Plymouth, especially for the school children on field trips.

There are only seven days left to raise the money for this Kickstarter campaign.  Tomorrow morning at 9am there will be a live question and answer session online with the Mayflower master, Captain Christopher Jones.  You can even submit your questions to him now via the website below.  Tune in tomorrow to learn more about the original Mayflower and the Mayflower II.  Remember that if the total amount of $250,000 is not raised, the project will receive nothing.  It's an all or nothing campaign that ends on November 17th.

The total restoration project of the Mayflower II will cost $12 million.  A lot of this money has been raised by individual donations and a large grant from the state of Massachusetts.  This fundraiser will help to purchase materials and specialized maritime restoration labor.   And it is also tax deductible.
