DEAC. BENJ. BALCH
& MARCY HIS WIFE
WHO DEPARTED
THIS LIFE AUG. 4
1736 IN Ye 11 YEAR
OF HIS AGE

Deacon Benjamin Balch is my 1st cousin, 8 generations removed.  His father, Samuel Balch is the brother of my 7th great grandmother, Mary Balch (about 1667 - 1737) who married Nathaniel Stone.  Benjamin Balch married Mercy Leach on 27 June 1705 in Beverly, Massachusetts.  She is a descendant of my 10th great grandfather, Lawrence Leach (about 1583 - 1662) of Beverly.  Mercy and Benjamin had five daughters and Benjamin (above) who died young).  Two of the daughters died young, too, but I could not find their tombstones here in this cemetery.

Benjamin Balch lived in the old Balch homestead which is still standing in at 448 Cabot Street in Beverly.
