Weathervane Wednesday ~ A Headless Cow and an arrow

I post a weather vane photograph every Wednesday.  This series started with images of weathervanes from the Londonderry, New Hampshire area, but now I've found interesting weather vanes all across New England and across the globe.  Sometimes my weather vanes are whimsical, or historical, but all are interesting.  Often my readers tip me off to some very unique or unusual weathervanes, too!  If you know a great weather vane near you, let me know if you'd like to have it featured on this blog.

Today's weather vanes were photographed in New Hampshire.

Do you know the location of weathervane post #362?  Scroll down to find the answer.

This barn on Hopkinton Road in Concord, New Hampshire has two weathervanes!  On the cupola is this lovely, but headless red and white cow.  It is also missing a leg, and looks like it has been used for target practice.  Bullet holes have been the fate of many weathervanes in New England, including this weathervane HERE in Weston, Vermont and another HERE from the General Patton Estate in Hamilton, Massachusetts.   Above the peak of the roof over the front barn door is a simple arrow weathervane with no cardinal points.

The Dimond Hill Farm in Concord has a seasonal farm stand and is a venue for meetings and functions such as weddings.  The present owner of the property is a descendant of the original owner of the farm, which was built in 1827.  In the 1770s Ezekiel Dimond lived here in his cabin. After the Revolutionary War he removed to Lee, New Hampshire and was part of the origins of the University of New Hampshire. The Dimond Library on the UNH campus is named for Ezekiel Dimond.
