A Simple Arrow - Weathervane Wednesday

We were wandering the back roads of Loudon, New Hampshire looking for a small family burial ground when we happened upon this old weathervane...

This historic building is on the corner of Clough Hill Road and Youngs Hill Road in Loudon, New Hampshire.  It was originally built in 1779, yet revised and added on over the years.  It was the first civic building in Loudon, constructed for religious services.  It served as the town hall until the 1970s.  The Freewill Baptist congregation still holds services here, and the building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

This simple, gilded arrow is one of the most plain weathervanes I have ever photographed for "Weathervane Wednesday".  These very old, and very simple weathervanes are beautifully appropriate for the simple, New England rural areas they represent.
