Genealogy Gifts from Santa 2015

What did Santa bring you this year?  My Santa Claus knows that I wait patiently every year for the "Wish Book" to come in the mail (AKA the book catalog from the New England Historic Genealogical Society).  I spend a few evenings perusing this catalog every December, circling some of my wishes.  Some get circled in red with stars.

I must have been very good because Santa got me two nice gifts from the NEHGS catalog, and one from I don't know where, but it made me squeal with delight.  I suppose only genealogists and historians would squeal over a book with over 1,000 pages of images and transcriptions of documents from the 1692 Salem witch hysteria.  I've been using this book at libraries, and now I have it for my very own use at home!   This is Records of the Salem Witch-Hunt, edited by Bernard Rosenthal, now available in paperback and much more affordable than the original hardcover edition.

Over 1,000 pages!

From the NEHGS bookstore I received The Great Migration Directory: Immigrants to New England, 1620 - 1640 by Robert Charles Anderson, published earlier in 2015.   I've been looking forward to this book for a long time.

And to go along with the directory, I've been enrolled in a subscription to the Great Migration Newsletter.  Thank you, Santa Claus!  I love my new gifts!

  1. Lucky you! Great gifts. I got a bumper stick that says "Genealogy! Confusing the dead, irritating the living."

    Happy new year.
