Jane Wallace, daughter of Ebenezer Wallace and Sarah McGaffey, was born in Epsom, New Hampshire on 2 October 1771 and died 14 December 1823 in Goffstown.  She was a descendant of George Wallis (1619 – 1685), an early settler at Little Harbor, Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and also my 10^th great grandfather.  [See this link: http://nutfieldgenealogy.blogspot.com/2015/11/surname-saturday-wallis-of-rockingham.html ]

Jane became the wife of David Lawrence Morrill on 17 September 1794 in Epsom.  He was the son of Reverend Samuel Morrill and Anna Lawrence, born on 10 June 1772 in Epping, New Hampshire.  He was the town doctor in Epsom and he removed to Goffstown in 1801 as the minister of the Congregational Presbyterian church.  In 1825, two years after Jane’s death,  David L. Morrill became the Governor of the State of New Hampshire.  He died on 28 January 1849 and is buried in Concord with his second wife, Lydia Poor.

J. McConihe of Merrimack was a popular stone carver of gravestones in this area.  I've seen his carvings in cemeteries in Goffstown, Merrimack and Hollis, New Hampshire.
