Silas Burnham, son of Asa Burnham and Elizabeth Cutler, was born March 8, 1783 in Dunbarton, New Hampshire.  He died 27 January 1831 in Dunbarton.  Silas married Abigail Clement about 1808.  Silas was one of the founders of the Universalist Society in 1830 in Dunbarton.  Services were held in the old Congregational Church.

Abigail Clement was born about 1783, daughter of Captain John Clement and Elizabeth Stevens of Atkinson, New Hampshire.  She had five children:

      1.   Asa b. 1806 d. 1891

      2.  Laura b.  6 April 1811 d. 18 April 1898, married Smith D. Buswell

      3. John b. 1816 d. 1865

      4.  Mark b. 1818

      5.  Deacon Silas, b. 1822

Silas’s father, Asa Burnham, son of Nathan Burnham and Hannah Choate, was born 17 March 1751 in the Chebacco Parish, Ipswich, Massachusetts. He married Elizabeth Cutler 18 January 1774 in Goffstown, New Hampshire.  He died 27 January 1831 at Dunbarton, New Hampshire. Asa Burnham served in the Revolutionary War under Capt. William Barrows of Lyndeborough, New Hampshire. Elizabeth filed for a widow’s pension.  Asa is my 1^st cousin 7 generations removed.  His grandparents, Thomas Burnham (1673 – 1748) and Susannah of Chebacco Parish, Ipswich, Massachusetts, are my 7^th great grandparents.

Elizabeth Cutler was born about 1753 and died 20 July 1839 in Dunbarton.

Children of Asa and Elizabeth Burnham: 

      1.       Asa b. 26 October 1774 and died 10 March 1812 in Hamilton Township, Northumberland County, Upper Canada due to drowning. Married Sarah Lovekin

      2.       Zacchaeus b. 10 February 1777, d. 25 February 1857 Hamilton Township, Northumberland County, Upper Canada. Married to Elizabeth Choate 1 February 1801, daughter of Jacob Choate and Hannah Burnham (my 1^st cousin 7 generations removed, daughter of Nathan Burnham and Hannah Choate of Chebacco Parish, Ipswich, Massachusetts). 

       3.       John b. 20 March 1779, d. 24 December 1840 in Hamilton Township, Northumberland County, Upper Canada. Married and had eight children.

      4.       Betty b. 16 February 1781, d. 6 November 1839 in Dunbarton. Married Samuel Saltmarsh.

      5.       Silas b. 8 March 1783 (see above)

      6.       Ruth b. 17 May 1785 d. 8 or 9 February 1787

      7.       Hannah b. 3 September 1787

      8.       Rachael b. 11 February 1789

      9.       Mark b. 15 February 1791, d. 21 February 1864 in Port Hope, Northumberland County, Upper Canada. Married Sophronia Gilchrist of Goffstown.

     10.   Ruth b. 23 June 1793. Married James Shepherd Kimball of Hampstead.

     11.   Azubah b. 25 March 1796

Surname Saturday ~ Morrill of Cambridge and Salisbury, Massachusetts

My 10^th great grandfather, Abraham Morrill (about 1615 – 1662) may have come to New England from England with his older brother Isaac Morrill aboard the ship Lyon in 1632, but we have no record.  He was probably underage because only adult men signed the Oath of Allegiance.  By 1634 he was paying taxes in Cambridge, Massachusetts.  His first grant of land in Cambridge was on 20 August 1635. 

By 1640 Abraham Morrill was granted land in Salisbury, Massachusetts.  In 1645 he married Sarah Clement of Salisbury, the daughter of Robert Clement of Haverhill.  They had nine children all born in Salisbury.  The last child, a daughter named Hepzibah, was born several months after Abraham’s early death. He was buried in Roxbury, where his brother Isaac’s family lived, and the record states “Abraham Morrell of Salisbury fell sick in this town & died & was buried upon the 20^th of the 4^th [1662]” [Roxbury Church Records 177].

Abraham’s wife, Sarah Clement, was the sister to Mary (Clement) Osgood, who was accused of witchcraft in 1692 and spent three months in jail.  Sarah married second to Thomas Mudgett in 1665. Sarah died two years after the witch trials, and thirty two years after her first husband, Abraham Morrill. 

I descend from Abraham and Sarah’s oldest son Isaac Morrill (1646 – 1713).  He was a resident of Salisbury, married Phebe Gill and had three children.  My 8^th great grandmother was Mary Morrell, wife of George Tuck of Beverly, Massachusetts.

Generation 1:   Abraham Morrill, born about 1615 in England, died 20 June 1662 in Roxbury, Massachusetts; married on 10 June 1645 in Salisbury, Massachusetts to Sarah Clements, daughter of Robert Clement and Lydia Drummer.  She was born about 1626 in Ansley, Warwick, England, and died August 1694 in Salisbury.  Nine MORRILL children.  She married second on 8 October 1665 in Salisbury to Thomas Mudgett.

Generation 2:  Isaac Morrill, born 10 July 1646 in Salisbury, died 17 October 1713; married on 14 November 1670 in Salisbury to Phebe Gill, daughter of John Gill and Phebe Buswell.  Three children.

Generation 3: Mary Morrell, born 10 September 1689 in Salisbury, died December 1750 in Beverly, Massachusetts; married about 1701 in Beverly to George Tuck, son of John Tuck and Rachel Unknown.  He was born 11 October 1678 in Beverly, and died 8 May 1751 in Beverly. Nine children.
