A selection of family photos taken in Spain...
José García (1908 - 1994) and María Consuelo Martín (1908 - 2001) were married on 8 September 1933 in Villar de Ciervo, Salamanca, Spain. Note how she is not wearing a white dress, and how José is seated (a very patriarchal society!). These are my husband's grandparents. This was a wedding in a small town, so it is more traditionally Spanish than the following photos. Even in the United States at this time all brides did not wear white.
My husband's parents were married in Madrid, Spain in 1960. This time the bride is wearing white and she is seated. This photo shows a more formally dressed couple- the bridegroom is wearing a tuxedo.
Some cousins, who married in 1981, also in Madrid, Spain. Time, customs and fashion style changes are very apparent in these three photographs. The poses, flowers, and of course the clothing are completely different in each picture.
