Elizabeth Ober was baptized in Beverly, Massachusetts on 9 December, 1677, the daughter of Richard Ober and Abigail Woodbury.  She married John Balch on 5 October 1700.  He was the son of John Balch and Hannah Veren, and my 1st cousin 8 generations removed (we are both descendants of the immigrant John Balch (d. 25 May 1648 in Beverly), and his son Benjamin Balch (1628 - 1715) and his wife Sarah Gardner.   Elizabeth Ober's mother, Abigail Woodbury, is a granddaughter of William Woodbury and Elizabeth Patch.  William Woodbury (1587 - about 1677) is my 12th great uncle, brother of John Woodbury (1583 - about 1643) my 11th great grandfather.

John Balch and Elizabeth Ober had two children born in Beverly:  the first was Joanna Balch, born on 30 April 1703 and married Andrew Ellingwood, the second was Andrew Balch, born on 27 February 1707 and married Bethia Lovett.
