Derry, New Hampshire History Mural

This mural was painted last year on the wall of the Cask and Vine at 1 1/2 East Broadway in Derry, New Hampshire.  You can see it well from Merchants Row, or the veranda in front of Sabatino's North Italian restaurant (in the old train station).

This mural, showcasing historic buildings and sights in Derry (some now gone), was done by The Wall Dogs mural company.  Last year, in 2019, was the 300th anniversary of the settlement of Nutfield, which became the towns of Londonderry and Derry.  The "Spudcrows" (scarecrows with potato heads) project funded the mural art, and a Facebook page "Downtown Derry Murals" is following the project.  Check out the Facebook page for photographs of local people (and their dogs) in front of this mural!

There are plans to continue fundraising for additional murals on this wall.  More Spudcrows are being sold, and there is a plan to include donor names in the cobblestones of a painted street, or even the likeness of donors walking through the scene. The new mural will include Benson's Hardware, the Frost Farm, the Firehouse, a Hood's milk wagon, and other New Hampshire symbols including some native Abenaki images.
