Weathervane Wednesday ~ At a popular restaurant

Weathervane Wednesday is an on-going series of photographs I post weekly.  I started by publishing weather vanes from the Londonderry area, but now I've been finding interesting weather vanes all across New England.  Sometimes my weather vanes are whimsical, or historical, but all are interesting. Often, my readers tip me off to some very unique and unusual weather vanes, too!

Today's weather vane is from Concord, New Hampshire.

Do you know the location of weather vane #191? Scroll down to see the answer!

This weathervane was seen at the Common Man Restaurant in Concord, New Hampshire, located at 25 Water Street.  For those out of staters, the Common Man is a local chain with branches all over New Hampshire.  This restaurant opened in 2000 in our capitol city.  Every C-Man restaurant is a bit different, and this one features "Doc's Primary Pub", decorated with election memorablia.

This is a banner weather vane.  These are traditional weather vanes that look like the first weather vanes, which were the long banners seen on top of medieval castles.  People looking at the banners waving in the wind could tell which direction the wind was blowing.  And so this type of weather vane continues to be popular, often painted with names or dates, or with lettering punched out.  It was hard to tell if this banner was ever decorated or not.
