The Mayflower II at berth in Plymouth, MA |
Happy Thanksgiving!
It seems that folks are taking time to post their Mayflower
lines on blogs this week as a new meme for the Thanksgiving holiday. This will be a fun way to compare lineages and find new cousins!

Hello cousin many times over. ;) I love looking at everyone else's lines and seeing how we connect!
ReplyDeleteDecided to go ahead and post details on my lines, so I shared 4 posts on my paternal Mayflower lineages tonight. I think I will save the maternal ones for tomorrow.
Heather, great minds think alike!
ReplyDeleteI just posted about John Billington, 11th great-grandfather and Mayflower passenger. I too am descended from Isaac and Mary Allerton and am posting on them tomorrow (those are the only two Mayflower families I can claim that I know of).
Will link you!
Just looked more closely at your Allerton descent, and our common ancestors go down to Mark HASKELL and Martha TUTTLE/TUTHILL. I'm descended from their daughter Elizabeth, who married Jeremiah FITTS/FITZ. Yet another line on which we're cousins. :-)
ReplyDeleteHeather, here's the link for the entry I just published re my descent from Isaac ALLERTON:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.theroadbackward.com/blog/2011/11/22/the-great-migration-begins-mayflower-edition-11th-great-gran.html
Hello, cousin Heather! I am descended from James CHILTON and my entry is published at
ReplyDeletehttp://pastlane.blogspot.com/2011/11/descended-from-james-chilton-mayflower.html
I'm descended from John Howland and Elizabeth Tilley (through my father) and James Chilton (through my mother). See From Maine to Kentucky for the details.
ReplyDeleteI'm descended from:
ReplyDeleteWilliam Brewster,Stephen Hopkins, John Howland,
John Tilley also dau Elizabeth Tilley, Thomas Rogers and James Chilton.
The sad thing is that I didn't find these lines until the last few years. When we were living back east and went to Plymouth I had no idea that I had any Mayflower Heritage. I told the kids I sure wished we had a connection little did I know that I would have 7 of them!!!!
Thanks for including my post on your list, I love sharing Mayflower heritage!
ReplyDeleteHi Cousin, here is the link to the lines I posted, and I am a descendant of George Soule and Edward Doty also.
ReplyDeletehttp://charles-mikkelshus.blogspot.com/2011/11/my-mayflower-lines.html
Heather, thanks so much for including my post! I've enjoyed seeing everyone's Mayflower lines - thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU everyone! This was so much fun, let's do it again next Thanksgiving. Maybe we can get more participants, too!
ReplyDeleteHeather, what a great idea for a post. I will have lots of reading to do to find new Brewster, Fuller and Hopkins 'çousins'. Happy Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea, Heather! I descend from the Mayflower Fullers, and from Rev. John Robinson. Which inspires me to write on my Dyer blog about John's son Isaac, who emigrated in 1630, was incensed at the persecution against the Quakers, and was fined and disfranchised for his sympathies. By 1665, he became a Quaker himself.
ReplyDelete*runs off to gather snippets and write blog post*
Christy, I descend from Rev. John Robinson on both my maternal and paternal sides, both under Isaac. I look forward to you post.
DeleteI'm only a year late in thanking you for posting my links. This had to have taken a good deal of thought and time. I appreciate being included. Happy Thanksgiving in Spain.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from your distant cousin in Illinois!

Yes, Michael, it looks like we are cousins on both the Howland and Allerton lines! Happy Thanksgiving!

It seems that our connection stops at Rebecca Soule and Edmund Weston. Interesting to see that we ultimately descend from the same line though!
I'm still hoping to find that elusive link to the Mayflower. But, my friend and fellow blogger, Debby Warner Anderson is descended from John & Priscilla Alden. Her blog is http://debbysfamilygenealogyblog.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteThis post is old. I hope to update it for Thanksgiving and include some of the newer bloggers and updated lineage information.
