"Unveiling of the Homestead Interior Restoration" by the Francis Wyman Family Association, Burlington, MA  Sunday, June 26, 1PM at the Francis Wyman 1666 Homestead at 56 Francis Wyman Road.  Work has been done on the interior to rstore the kitchen, front stairs, etc. after a devastating fire.  See for more information.

The Taylor Family Reunion, 2011 will mark the 290th Anniversary of the arrival of Matthew Taylor and Jennet Wilson to Nutfield, (later Derry) New Hampshire. The reunion will run from July 29- 31st, 2011 at the Upper Village Hall in Derry, across from the First Church. The 31st Towne Family Reunion and Annual Meeting, August 13 – 15, Salem, Massachusetts. For the descendants of William and Joanna (Blessing) Towne who came to America from Great Yarmouth, England and settled in Salem, MA about 1635. Head-quartered at the Hawthorne Hotel in Salem. The hospitality room will open Saturday evening, and there will be a banquet Sunday evening. The business meeting will be at a Monday morning breakfast. Monday afternoon we will spend at the Nurse Homestead, where we will have a picnic box lunch. Londonderry Old Home Day Celebration, August 17 -21, 2011. A five day event including concerts, movies, fireworks, parade, baby contest, a 5K road race, children’s games, and a townwide celebration on the town common. See the website  for a complete schedule and photos of previous Old Home Days. Londonderry is one of less than a dozen communities that have faithfully observed Old Home Day on the third weekend in August since 1899.  The Morrison House (pictured at the top of my blog) will be open all day Saturday August 20 for visiting and demonstrations.

1. ) July 27 and August 24, 2011. Cruise Night! Every 4th Wednesday of every summer month. Trophies for Best and People’s Choice. Also a 50/50 Raffle to benefit Moore*Mart and their efforts to send care packages to soldiers serving overseas.

2.) August 27 -28, 2011, Mack’s Peach Fest! Demos, food, entertainment, games, facepainting. Get a game card and visit multiple farms this weekend to participate in the NH Dept. of Agriculture’s “Passport to Local Farms Tour”. On the 28th is the “Run for the Apples” 5K cross country race.

3.) September 30 – Oct 31 Pumpkin Fest. Scarecrow Contest all month, kid’s pumpkins decorating, pick your own pumpkins, too.

Robert Frost Farm ongoing Hyla Brook Reading Series begins May 19 at 6:30 PM at the Robert Frost Farm, Rt. 28 in Derry, with poets Deborah Warren and Derry’s Midge Goldberg, followed by open mic poetry readings from the audience. Also at the Frost Farm, the Summer Literary Series begins on July 17th, 2PM with Lea Newman discussing the women in Frost’s life and how their impact is reflected in his writing.
