Sarah Treat, daughter of Richard Treat and Sarah Coleman, was born June 8, 1664 in Wethersfield, and died January 6, 1711/12 in Wethersfield. She was the first wife of Capt. Ephraim Goodrich, married in Wethersfield on 20 May 1684. They had seven children: Richard, Thomas, Ephraim, Gideon, Sarah, William and David. He married second to Jerusha Treat, widow of Capt. Thomas Welles.
I sometimes see double dating used in vital records or town records, but not often do I see double dating on gravestones. Click HERE for an explanation of why double dating was used before 1752.
Another example of the old style calendar on a gravestone in Portsmouth, New Hampshire can be seen HERE.

Love seeing the double-dating here - first time I've seen that.
ReplyDeleteAnd it is interesting that Jerusha and Sarah Treat were first cousins. There were certainly many Treat/Trott families in CT in the 1600s.
Interesting capture of the gravestone for my 8th great-grandmother. Thanks for posting.
